Enemsa Pharma is developing first-in-class neuroprotective therapies designed to restore cellular homeostasis through proteostasis restoration, mitophagy enhancement and mitochondrial protection. Our mission is to deliver disease-modifying treatments for patients with neurodegenerative and neuromuscular disorders through both standalone and synergistic combination approaches.
Based in Nantes, France, our team has a solid track record in preclinical and clinical drug development, business development, intellectual property management, and dilutive and non-dilutive transactions.
The future of neurodegenerative disease treatment will not be built on single-target therapies. It will be driven by approaches capable of restoring the complex biological networks that fail during disease progression.
Enemsa Pharma is pioneering a new generation of neuroprotective therapies centered on cellular homeostasis restoration. Through proteostasis modulation, mitophagy enhancement, mitochondrial protection and reduction of oxidative stress, we seek to address the root causes of neuronal dysfunction and degeneration.
Our lead asset, Icerguastat, serves as both a therapeutic product and a platform technology. With its unique multimodal mechanism of action, Icerguastat can be developed as a standalone disease-modifying therapy or combined with complementary treatments to unlock synergistic efficacy.
By integrating multiple biological pathways into a single therapeutic strategy, we aim to create transformative treatments for ALS, CMT and other neurodegenerative disorders where current therapies remain inadequate.
Experienced leadership team with a solid track record in drug development, Business Development, IP management, and dilutive and non-dilutive transactions.
We seek to partner with patients, their family, patient associations, to make a positive impact on the unmet needs of those affected by neurodegenerative or cardiopulmonary conditions. To learn more, how we are making a difference in the life of patients, click here

Throughout his career, he has held several senior leadership positions, including Head of the Patent Department at Laboratoires Pierre Fabre, member of the Executive Committee of Vivalis (now Valneva), Director of Vivalis Toyama in Japan, and COO then CEO of InFlectis BioScience.
Pierre holds an engineering degree and a Master’s in Biotechnology from the École de Biotechnologie de Strasbourg, as well as a PhD in Molecular and Cell Biology from Louis Pasteur University in Strasbourg. He is also a graduate of CEIPI (Centre d’Études Internationales de la Propriété Intellectuelle) in Strasbourg and earned his MBA from Audencia Business School in Nantes.
He began his career in academic research, with scientific positions at Transgene (Strasbourg), the Wistar Institute (Philadelphia, PA), Hôpital Necker (Paris), and the IGBMC (Strasbourg).
He subsequently transitioned into intellectual property at the Regimbeau IP law firm in Paris before joining Laboratoires Pierre Fabre as Head of the Patent Department. In 2003, Pierre moved to Vivalis (now Valneva) as Director of Intellectual Property and Business Development, where he led the company’s IP valorization strategy and established strategic international partnerships across the US, Europe, and Asia. In this role, he oversaw business development initiatives with major pharmaceutical companies and managed the structuring, negotiation, and operational follow‑up of numerous licensing and collaboration agreements.
In 2013, Pierre co‑founded InFlectis BioScience, where he served as Chief Operating Officer and later Chief Executive Officer, guiding the company’s scientific direction and forging critical collaborations. Since 2019, he has also led research activities at InFlectis, contributing to the discovery and characterization of two new mechanisms of action for icerguastat.
He is co‑author of around twenty scientific publications and co‑inventor on several patents.
In 2026, Pierre co‑founded Enemsa Pharma, where he now serves as Chief Executive Officer, driving the company’s strategic vision, scientific development, and global partnerships
Dr Emmanuelle Abgueguen has more than 20 years of international experience in biomedical research, including 16 years in the pharmaceutical industry. She holds a PhD in Biology from the University of Rennes 1 and began her career in academic research before joining Takeda Pharmaceutical.
At Takeda, she identified more than seven therapeutic targets and demonstrated the in cellulo efficacy of small molecules acting on these proteins, several of which were then advanced into Takeda’s R&D pipeline for neurodegenerative indications such as Alzheimer’s disease. She later joined InFlectis Bioscience, where she led the development of the drug candidate IFB-088 from preclinical proof of concept through to a phase 2 clinical trial in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).
Within Takeda and subsequently InFlectis Bioscience, Emmanuelle oversaw target development from initial identification through to first-in-human clinical evaluation. Through academic partnerships and collaborations with contract research organizations (CROs), she elucidated the compound’s mechanism of action, validated its efficacy in several rare disease animal models, and contributed to the analysis of biomarkers generated in the clinical study.
Throughout her career, she has also directed regulatory preclinical studies and contributed to the drafting of multiple scientific publications and patents.
Pharmacist and pharmacologist Noëlle Callizot is a recognized expert in France and internationally in the research and development of drug candidates for neurodegenerative diseases, with a particular focus on Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). Over more than 25 years, she has driven the pharmaceutical development of neuroactive compounds through to advanced clinical stages.
As Director of Pharmacology and Pharmaceutical Development at the listed company Phytopharm (Cambridge, UK) for six years, she led multiple neurodegenerative disease programs (Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s) through to phase 3 clinical trials. In parallel, Noëlle co-founded four French biotechnology companies in the fields of contract research, functional neurorehabilitation and neuroactive compound screening.
She currently serves as Director of Development at AlzProtect and sits on the scientific advisory boards of numerous start-ups and biotech companies in France and abroad. Noëlle is also a permanent member of the Scientific Advisory Board of AFM-Téléthon, where she chairs the pharmacology committee.
